"High Spec, Low Maintenance",

"Great choices... the suggestions for the flower beds are perfect." FD

The design brief was to plan and implement flanking borders for the garden of a high-spec rental property which was undergoing a complete refurbishment.
The rental nature of the property required us to put the low-maintenance consideration at the very top of priorities. For this reason, the plant selection is primarily evergreen since the pruning and keeping in check tends to be steady and slow compared to the often rapid rise and fall of perennials throughout the seasons.
Ultimately, Cherry Laurel hedging and Trachelospermum jasminoides (Star Jasmine) climbers were chosen for their speed of growth since there was a vast amount of fencing and a huge wall that the owner wanted greening up quickly.
The more decorative front-of-border selections are predominately evergreen shrubs with a range of leaf arrangements and hues, such as Hebes, Pittosporums, Euphorbias and Rhododendrons.
Now in its second year, the borders are already looking bountiful and lush whilst requiring minimum input to look after.
